I’m sharing a little more about me in this month’s blog post – how I came to do what I do, the values I live and work by, and what I love most about the career I’ve chosen. Really, it’s always felt more like a calling…
I was born and raised in Poland, and from a young age, I felt drawn to helping others. In my early twenties, that began to take shape as a deep passion for physiotherapy. Supporting people through physical recovery and seeing their progress is a truly rewarding experience, and it’s one that has shaped both my career and my life.

My Journey into Physiotherapy
In 2006, I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy from Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków – the oldest and one of the most prestigious universities in Poland. Later that year, I made the decision to move to the UK to seek new opportunities.
Like many newcomers, I started with simple jobs and worked my way up. One of my earliest professional roles was as a physiotherapy assistant at the Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit – the TEM House, a specialist residential centre in Milton Keynes. That valuable experience helped shape my skills, and by 2008, I had successfully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and became an independent physiotherapist.
Professional Experience
Since then, I’ve worked across a variety of settings, including inpatient neuro-rehabilitation units, and NHS facilities specialising in geriatrics and orthopaedics. Each environment has added new layers to my understanding of patient care, and I’ve always been drawn to work that involves complex challenges and close human connections.
Neuro Physio Direct
In 2014, after returning from maternity leave, I launched my own independent practice: Neuro Physio Direct.
My aim was to offer client-centred services that reflect each person’s goals, emotional health, and beliefs, with a holistic approach that puts the client at the heart of everything. The core values I uphold in my practice are:
- Integrity
- Functionality
- Kindness
Setting up my own practice gave me the freedom to explore new approaches, including soft tissue therapy like the Emmett Technique. I later qualified as an EMM-Tech tutor, enabling me to teach people simple but effective ways to manage their muscles.
Areas of Speciality
My main clinical focus is on neurological conditions, including:
- Stroke
- Spinal cord injuries
- Multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s disease
However, the principles of neuro physiotherapy are highly transferable, so I apply a holistic approach to every client, regardless of the condition’s complexity. Every client presents a new puzzle, and I love the challenge of uncovering the root cause of discomfort or limited performance – and then finding ways to solve it.
I’m also a firm believer in harnessing technology to assist in recovery. Tools such as foot drop stimulators, GripAble and muscle stimulators for passive strengthening can make a world of difference in restoring function and building confidence.
I also strongly believe in the mind-body connection. That’s why I integrate positive psychology into my work, to inspire enthusiasm, nurture optimism, and help clients visualise and move towards a brighter outcome. I’ve seen first-hand how powerful this mindset can be in overcoming limitations.

Life Outside Work
When I’m not working, you’ll find me staying active – not just for fitness, but to keep myself in the best shape to support others. I enjoy:
- Long walks
- Cycling
- Swimming
- Yoga (as part of my own rehab routine)
Spending time outdoors is essential to me. Nature keeps me grounded, offers perspective, and brings a sense of peace to my busy days.
Gratitude & Connection
Today, over a decade into running Neuro Physio Direct, I work full-time and still wake up excited to see my clients. Many have become like extended family, and I’m so grateful for the strong, meaningful connections we’ve built.
We share experiences, support one another, and grow together. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of your journey.
Thank you for being here and for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you on your path to recovery. See you soon!
